Herbert Gottlieb, CEO
"In my experience, I see companies continually struggle with the need for keeping a software identification database up to date. Usually the approach to the maintenance of the software identification database is from the wrong direction. Discovery tool vendors ask their clients to take on the difficult task of adding and maintaining the thousands of application related files in their environment that are not in the discovery tool database. The result is that companies identify and classify software, each with their own set of rules or with no rules at all. The inevitable and predictable results of this activity range from excessive expenditures of staff time to chaos. Only one company maintains an industry standard software identification data base that is based on UNSPSC definitions, and that company is SWIDENT."
This knowledge combined with years of first-hand experience working with hundreds of companies trying to perform software audits has enabled SWIDENT to address a problem faced by any company attempting to accurately and completely identify software in their environment. Herb Gottlieb is also a CPA, Certified Software Manager and Certified Hardware Manager.
